Given that Naiktha made the QFs here last year, and than Millie is supposedly very good at doubles, as per her college results, this result is pretty disappointing really

Given that Babos has won 3 Slams and made a couple more finals, and was briefly WR1 for doubles, it's not that shabby!

Might be difficult playing with someone you've not played with before.

Sorry I have to disagree. A pair with a combined ranking 0f 574 losing by 4 and 4 to a pair with a combined ranking of 95 seems a pretty good score to me!

I was just about to say much the same and Timea Babos WR 59 in that CR is a former WR 1.

Yes, Naiktha made the QF with Maia last year ( a pleasant surprise ) and Millie will be well underranked. But c'mon, those were tough opponents.. A pity - yes, prerty disappointing - no.

I don't think any of the scores were poor - the two I expected to have the best chance did win, and Heather+Greet weren't far away. It's just a pity that 5 of the 7 matches were against seeds.

Fair enough but Millie's ranking is obivously wrong, given it doesn't reflect her college tennis, which is all that she's been playing this past year, so the combined rankings - to me - aren't very relevant when one of them is wrong

I guess I'm just saying that I was disappointed, not that everyone else has to beWeeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - Doubles (3)

Millies Mum here - Where to start -

1. Millie is very good at doubles - not supposedly - surely the other pairs that lost are "supposedly " good at doubles also - yes - I know against seeded players ...

2. It is the first time Millie and Naiktha have played together - at the end the other pair said to them "what an excellent match" ...

3. A score of 6-4 6-4 against a pair with a combined ranking of 95 and one with 25 Doubles titles is non too shabby

As another post said " a pity" NOT disappointing - the meaning of the word disappointed in the English dictionary is "to fail to satisfy some-one of their hopes, wishes etc " - I am disappointed - definitely not in my daughter or Naiktha but in the easy way some comments are made - ... as Bob Marley says - "the road of life is rocky and you may stumble too so while you point your fingers some-one else is judging you" ..... this applies to all players that are commented on not just Millie.

This post is not meant to be accusatory against any-one but I felt it needed to be said .. - some words can be quite impacting even though they may not be meant as such - one day or one event does not and should not define some-one - Every-one is entitled to their own views and opinions and that is fine - Millie doesn't read this forum and it would have no effect on her if she did ... She's too busy living and enjoying her life and I just respond on her behalf when needed - good or bad ...

I take on baord your comments absolutely, Michelle.

And have followed Millie since seeing her at Roehampton as a junior (as well as being involved in elite junior tennis for over 10 years)

But I was still slightly disappointed in the result - as in, exactly as your dictionary says, it failed to fulfil my hopes and wishes

And I think that's a valid statement, not a personal criticism of any player

Fair dos, CD. I just honestly think you had got your hopes up quite a bit too much considering the opposition that the girls were facing and lost to 'just' 4 & 4.
